Dermot McArdle was arrested on foot of a European arrest warrant this morning, which had been issued after he was convicted of the manslaughter of his wife Kelly Ann Corcoran in Marbella in 2008.
He had been allowed to return home to Louth before serving his sentence, but never returned.
RTÉ reports that he was arrested shortly after midday today, though it says the arrest took place at his home in Dundalk; the Irish Examiner reports that McArdle presented himself at Dundalk Garda Station.
It adds that the court consented to bail, on the condition that McArdle, 41, present himself to Dundalk Garda Station on a daily basis, surrender his passport, and remain resident at his Co Louth address."
