Cádiz man finally compensated for rape he did not commit

Cádiz man finally compensated for rape he did not commit: "Cádiz man who spent more tan 13 years in prison for a rape he did not commit has been compensated by the state.

Rafael Ricardi was released in July 2008 after the DNA evidence which had helped to convict him was revised and he was found to be innocent. Another man was arrested in his place before his release.

The Supreme Court annulled Ricardi’s sentence a year later, but it was not until last Friday that the compensation set down by the Justice Ministry was paid into his bank account. He received 555,600 €, which El País notes equates to 120 € for each of the 4,630 days he spent behind bars."
