The man who was shot in the neck in Nerja on Monday remains in intensive care in the Carlos Haya Hospital in Málaga.

He remains in a serious condition. The other two victims of the shootings which took place in the Barriada de Los Poetas in the town at 6pm Monday also continue in hospital but at the District Hospital in Vélez-Málaga. One man was operated on a chest injury and is now on the ward making favourable progress, while the youngster who was shot in the ankle is in the trauma unit. Two of the victims are from Nerja aged 31 and 25 and one from Torrox aged 31. The three were sitting on a bench on Calle José Antonio Muz Rojas, by the zebra crossing, and witnesses say that a silver car arrived carrying three people, thought to be a Spaniard and two Moroccans. After an argument between the two groups, one of the people who had arrived in the car took out a pistol and opened fire. One witness account says that despite being shot one of the injured made his way to his home which was nearby and returned shortly with a hunting shotgun to repel the attack. The men who arrived in the silver car then fled in the same vehicle which the Guardia Civil is trying to find.
