The body of a woman, aged between 20 and 25 years, was found on a beach at Barbate at around 15.50 on Thursday afternoon. The body was seen some 40 metres off the shore at Los Caños de Meca in a small 'patera' launch. According to official sources she had been dead for several days.
The Guardia Civil are investigating the death of a North African man in his twenties whose body was found near the Trafalgar lighthouse on Wednesday. They suspect that he may have travelled on the same small boat as ten illegal immigrants who were arrested the same day, six of them at kilometre eight on the road which runs from Los Caños de Meca a Barbate during the morning, and the remainder on the road between there and San Ambrosio at 7 p.m. The men are all believed to have arrived on board a seven metre long wooden boat after midnight on 1st January.
