Woman sentenced in bottle attack

WOMAN who glassed another woman in a bar has been sentenced to six years in prison. She ruined her victim’s face in what the courts have called a “violent and malicious attack”. As well as completing her prison sentence the aggressor will also have to pay to her victim a compensatory fine of €18,400. The events took place in a bar in the Trinidad area of Malaga capital last year. The victim was sitting with a friend on the terrace of a bar and when he went to the toilet the aggressor went over to the victim and tried to persuade her to leave her friend behind and accompany her, the aggressor. The two got into an argument and the young victim then asked the aggressor to leave her alone. Bar staff warned the victim that the woman was extremely aggressive and dangerous and so, when her friend came back from the toilets, they both left the bar.  The courts consider it proven that the aggressor followed her victim to the street where she began to hit her with a bottle which she had broken in preparation for the attack. She continued her violent attack, even when the victim fell to the floor, until the victim’s friend was able to pull her off and throw her to the floor. When the Local Police arrived they found the victim on the floor cradling her head in her hands and bleeding profusely from all over her face. They also observed the aggressor with cuts on her hands and, considering this to be enough evidence, took her into custody as the possible culprit. The consequences for the victim have been a series of wounds which took more than 25 days to heal and have left clear scars all over her face. When sentencing the courts took into account the fact that it is not the first time that the aggressor has been brought up on the same charges (last time she was jailed for two and a half years) and the fact that the victim will, most likely, be scarred for life.
