Row over medal awarded to police boss | Costa del Sol | News | The Largest English Language Newspapers in Spain

Euro Weekly News | Row over medal awarded to police boss | Costa del Sol | News | The Largest English Language Newspapers in Spain: "current chief of the Local Police in Estepona, Pedro Naranjo, has received the medal for police merit, but not everyone is happy about it. Three officers have complained to the Andalucian High Court of Justice, because they believe that the rules of the Local Police force have been modified to suit Naranjo.
The medal was awarded for the police and security operation organized when the King and Queen of Spain visited the town in October 2007, but at that time, Naranjo wasn’t chief of police.
Union CSI-CSIF says the mayor, “David Valadez, should be ashamed of himself for spending public money on awards to keep one civil servant, who he has randomly chose, happy when there are major deficiencies in the town’s forces.”"
