Eight month pregnant woman found to be carrying 1 kilos of cocaine inside her body: "eight month pregnant Nigerian woman has been arrested on the Baleares and found to be carrying a kilo of cocaine hidden in her stomach and vagina.

She started suffering convulsions on a flight to Palma de Mallorca when travelling also with another 18 month old son, and had to be operated upon on her arrival, to save the life of the baby which had to be born a month prematurely.

The baby suffered a heart attack just after birth, but the baby and mother are now both said to be doing well, the baby in the Son Llàtzer Hospital and the mother, in the arrest unit of the Son Espases Hospital.

National police say the woman, who is in her 30’s, was being used as a ‘drug mule’ to carry the cocaine from Madrid to Palma. She faces charges of committing a crime against public health, and possibly also for endangering the life of her child.

The 18 month year old is now in the care of Mallorca social services."
