A statement from the Málaga provincial police station says the shooting took place after 10pm in an urbanisation in the town.
Several police units went to the scene and found the man, injured with gunshot wounds.
The victim was taken to the ‘Virgen de la Victoria’ Clínico Hospital in Málaga City, reported suffering from several gunshot wounds.
The Torremolinos-Benalmadena police station has taken over the investigations in the case.
Latest reports on Friday afternoon from the hospital said that he was in intensive care after surgery affecting his stomach and that he also suffered damage to a hip. He is said to be in a serious but stable condition, and is on assisted breathing."
